Turquoise

One of the most popular jewelry stones, associated with many legends and fairy tales.

Chemically, turquoise is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminum.

It is believed that the best turquoise can be found in Iran, in the province of Khorasan. This is the world standard.

This stone was very much loved by the Indians of America and Mexico. More than 50 thousand items with turquoise were found in their burials.

Turquoise is the national stone of the Iranians. Here the stone is valued much more than gold.

Turquoise is especially revered by Muslims. A legend about Mohammed was inscribed on one of the turquoise nuggets.

The most valuable turquoise is blue. This stone is unaffected by weathering. Blue turquoise contains copper and no iron at all. It has the densest structure, which is well suited for jewelry.
